ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT Galactofuranose-containing molecules have been repeatedly shown to be important antigens among human fungal pathogens, including Aspergillus fumigatus . Immunogenic galactofuran determinants poorly characterized chemically, however. We reported here the characterization of two glycoproteins A. with an N-glycan containing galactofuranose. These proteins are a phospholipase C and phytase. Chemical indicates that it is mixture Hex 5-13 HexNAc 2 oligosaccharides, major molecular species corresponding 6-8 The contained one galactofuranose unit was in terminal nonreducing position attached Man. This single essential for immunoreactivity N-glycans assessed either monoclonal antibody recognizes tetra-β-1,5-galactofuran chain galactomannan or -infected patient sera.
