ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT Though it is well established that gamma interferon (IFN-γ) crucial to the early innate defense of murine listeriosis, its sources remain controversial. In this study, intracellular cytokine staining IFN-γ-expressing splenocytes after Listeria monocytogenes infection revealed NK1.1 + , CD11c CD8 T, and CD4 T cells expressed IFN-γ 24 h infection. Contrary previous report, most dendritic (DC) were CD8α − DC. Unexpectedly, almost all also NK1.1. These represented primary situ studies showed these recruited borders infectious foci IFN-γ. A significant population was found in uninfected spleen, lymph node, blood, bone marrow cells. And number increased significantly L. Using interleukin-12 (IL-12) p40 −/− mice, expression be largely IL-12 dependent, only about one-third wild-type mice. Moreover, absolutely dependent on live infection, as no detected inoculation heat-killed . Our findings not provide an insight into vivo but may change current perceptions DC natural killer
