ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT Salmonella enterica serotype typhimurium ( S. ) DT104 (DT104) first emerged as a major pathogen in Europe and is characterized by its pentadrug-resistant pattern. It has also been associated with outbreaks the United States. The organism typically carries resistance to ampicillin, chloramphenicol, streptomycin, sulfonamides, tetracycline. mechanism of chloramphenicol was determined producing antibiotic-resistant Escherichia coli host strain clones from DNA. DNA chloramphenicol-resistant sequenced, probes specific for genes flo St ), int , invA spvC were produced colony blot hybridizations. One hundred nine isolates, including 44 multidrug-resistant tested evaluate specificities probes. gene reported this study, confers florfenicol on DT104. Florfenicol unique isolates same drug profile among all evaluated. Of tested, 98% detected based phenotypic 100% had -positive genotype. Resistances are conferred described paper. Presumptive identification can be made rapidly presence or resulting phenotype.
