ABSTRACT
Although the prevalence of carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales remains low in Japan, these bacteria are a growing problem worldwide, owing to their multidrug resistance phenotype. We isolated multidrug-resistant Providencia rettgeri strain, NR1418, harboring rare blaIMP variant, blaIMP-70, novel blaCTX-M designated blaCTX-M-253, and blaMOX-1. This strain is resistant β-lactams, amikacin, levofloxacin, colistin. Genomic analysis revealed that NR1418 carries two plasmids, pNR1418-1 pNR1418-2. The plasmid harbors blaTEM-1, blaMOX-1, while pNR1418-2 which located class 1 integron. Both plasmids exhibit high similarities with P. isolate BML2526, also blaIMP-70 was identified same region Japan as at different point time. indicates possibility emergence evolution IMP-70-producing suggests BML2526 may have occurred following recombination harbored by NR1418. Further, blaCTX-M-253 were found on unique indicating they likely evolved through mutations recombination. IMPORTANCE an opportunistic pathogen, its intrinsic colistin tigecycline makes treatment challenging. blaMOX-1 from urinary sample obtained Osaka, Japan. investigated genetic structure evaluated carrying genes. show present another being location. play role development spread resistance.
