Intrapericardial streptokinase in purulent pericarditis

ABSTRACT
Six consecutive children with proven purulent pericarditis were treated pericardial irrigation streptokinase. Mean (SD) 861 (678) ml (range 240-2000) of thick fluid was drained, and five had complete clearance the pus within 3-8 days. One child developed intrapericardial haemorrhage a submitral pseudoaneurysm underwent patch closure neck aneurysm as well anterior pericardiectomy. Follow up 13 to 30 months revealed no constriction.
