ABSTRACT

Introduction
Vertebrobasilar dissecting aneurysms (VBDAs) are associated with serious complications and a poor prognosis. It is believed that inflammation of the aneurysm wall may be main cause rupture or deterioration. Atorvastatin has been shown to inhibit suitable drug candidate. Here, we report clinical research study protocol investigate whether atorvastatin inhibits wall, as measured by signal index enhancement.
Methods analysis
We have designed single-centre, randomised, double-blind, blank-controlled trial. 40 patients non-ruptured VBDAs enhancement walls will enrolled in Beijing Tiantan Hospital. Eligible randomly divided into two treatment groups, at ratio 1:1, receive 20 mg orally for 6 months no treatment. The primary assessment outcome change enhancement, during 6-month period. secondary outcomes morphology (intramural haematoma, dissection valve false lumen) changes concentrations inflammatory factors, including C reactive protein, tumour necrosis factor-α, interleukin (IL)-1β IL-6.
Ethics dissemination
approved medical ethics committee Hospital which work conducted (Approval No. KY 2019-024-02). Written informed consent obtained from all participants. Findings submitted publication peer-reviewed journal.
Trial registration number
NCT04943783.
