ABSTRACT
OBJECTIVE: To assess the motor function of left, supposedly unaffected, limbs patients with an acute right vascular hemiplegia. METHODS: Fifteen hemiplegia and 16 matched healthy controls were studied. Motor left each patient was evaluated on days 20 90 after their stroke using four validated tools (hand dynamometer, isokinetic finger tapping, nine hole peg test). RESULTS: There a significant impairment at day compared controls. The had recovered almost completely stroke. CONCLUSION: These results show bilateral cerebral representation human system suggest participation ipsilateral pathways in recovery
