ABSTRACT
The imbalance of bone homeostasis has become a major public medical problem amid the background an aging population, which is closely related to occurrence osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, and fractures. Presently, most drugs used in clinical treatment are bisphosphonates, calcitonin, estrogen receptor modulators, biological agents that inhibit resorption or parathyroid hormone analogs promote formation. However, there many adverse reactions. Therefore, it necessary explore potential drugs. Quercetin, as flavonol compound with various activities, widely distributed plants. Studies have found quercetin can regulate through multiple pathways targets. An in-depth exploration pharmacological mechanism great significance for development new This review discusses therapeutic mechanisms on homeostasis, such regulating expression long non-coding RNA, signaling metabolism, types programmed cell death, nutrients supply pathways, anti-oxidative stress, anti-inflammation, activation Sirtuins. We also summarize recent progress improving bioavailability propose some issues worth paying attention to, may help guide future research efforts.
