CROSS-BORDER TOURISM FROM BRUNEI DARUSSALAM TO EASTERN MALAYSIA: AN EMPIRICAL ANALYSIS

ABSTRACT
We analysed the factors influencing level of cross-border tourism from Brunei Darussalam to Eastern Malaysia based on a random survey 675 Bruneian residents returning land and sea trips using simple statistical multiple regression analysis. The results revealed that age respondents, personal income, perceived quality as better place rest relax, goods services in Malaysia, use alcohol by respondents having family members friends living were significant affecting number visits Malaysia. This analysis was over 12-month period prior survey, relative price stability. Regression expenditures during their most recently completed trip indicated travelling with friends, days spent trip, perception relax public transport expenditures. estimated about B$426 million year while visiting this amount accounted for roughly 5.7% Brunei's gross domestic product (GDP) 2000.
