ABSTRACT
To determine whether quantitative bone scintigraphy (QBS) with single-energy photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) can help predict which patients chronic renal disease will show mineral density (BMD) loss.In 18 patients, the percentage of injected dose technetium-99m methylene diphosphonate per cubic centimeter was measured QBS SPECT in lumbar vertebrae and femoral neck. The differences BMD over an average 20 months were compared measurements. values also serum turnover markers. There a negative correlation (r = -.54, P < .05 for spine r -.60, .01 neck) between loss. Positive predictive values, sensitivity, specificity loss 78%, 71%, respectively, neck, 82%, 100%, respectively. Differences markers not statistically significant.QBS enabled prediction rapid disease.
