ABSTRACT
Borohydrides in alkaline media are potential fuels for fuel cells due to their high energy and power density. In this work, we studied the anodic oxidation of borohydrides on a nickel electrode. The open-circuit was found be about 0.15-0.2 V more negative than hydrogen potential, depending concentration results polarization measurements indicated that density can achieved system. However, coulombic efficiency 50% or less evolution. A further investigation showed gas not only generated from hydrolysis reaction, but also electrochemical reaction. actual reaction borohydride Ni electrode proved four-electron process rather an eight-electron one. © 2003 Electrochemical Society.
