ABSTRACT
Because diabetes mellitus is associated with impairment of testicular function, ultimately leading to reduced fertility, this study was conducted evaluate the existence a cause-effect relationship between increased oxidative stress in and mitochondrial antioxidant capacity. The susceptibility capacity (in terms glutathione, coenzyme Q, vitamin E content) testis preparations isolated from Goto-Kakizaki (GK) non-insulin-dependent diabetic rats Wistar control rats, 1 yr age, evaluated. It found that GK showed lower lipid peroxidation induced by ADP/Fe(2+), as evaluated oxygen consumption reactive species generation. decreased an increase glutathione Q9 contents, whereas not changed. These results demonstrate higher rats. We suggest adaptive response mitochondria damage mellitus.
