ABSTRACT
Muscle biopsies of the longissimus dorsi of prepartum dairy cattle indicate that molecular signatures support distinct metabolic strategies between low- and high-muscle cattle and that branched-chain volatile fatty acid supplementation increased substrates for energy generation.
