ABSTRACT
To explore the role of IL-23/IL-17 axis in relationship between periodontitis and coronary heart disease (CHD), 97 subjects were recruited divided into four groups: (1) CHD + periodontitis, (2) CHD, (3) periodontitus alone, (4) healthy. The demographic characteristics periodontal status all recorded, serum levels detected by enzyme-linked immunoabsorbent assay. Results showed that groups 1, 2, 3 higher compared with group 4. Group 1 manifested highest level IL-23/IL-17. A significant positive correlation IL-23 IL-17 was seen three patients groups; also had correlations probing depth attachment loss. results indicate there may be an association play important pathologic process both diseases.
