ABSTRACT
Arterial stiffness (AS) was associated with heart failure (HF) in previous studies based on specific populations small samples and the effects of age blood pressure AS were not taken into account. Whether independently new-onset HF community dwellers has been fully investigated to date.Individuals who participated health evaluations underwent synchronized brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) screening 2010 2019 included. They free atrial fibrillation at baseline. The participants allocated 3 groups according their baPWV values. Normal defined as <1400 cm/s, borderline 1400≤baPWV<1800 elevated ≥1800 cm/s. Cox proportional hazard regression used calculate ratios 95% CIs across different groups.A total 40 064 enrolled a mean 48.81±12.67 years. During 5.53 years follow-up, 411 developed HF. Compared normal group, ratio (95% CI) for incident 1.97 (1.36-2.86) group 2.24 (1.49-3.38) multivariable-adjusted model. For each 1 SD (359 cm/s) increase baPWV, 1.10 (1.02-1.20).AS positively higher risk traditional factors, dose-responsive effect.
