ABSTRACT
Objectives: To explore the difference in ascending aortic dilatation between subgroups of bicuspid valve (BAV) patients with and without coarctation aorta (CoA). Methods: Our echocardiographic database (1993–2006) was searched for BAV CoA (Group A) B). Measurements at annulus, root, sinotubular junction, were obtained each patient, body surface area-adjusted Z-score values compared. Exclusion criteria included more than mild stenosis or regurgitation, previous balloon valvuloplasty, complex left heart disease; plus Turner, Noonan, Williams, Marfan Syndromes. Results: The median age Group A (n=53) 11.3 yrs (range 0 to 30) follow-up 7 (0 12.7); B (n=145) 8.7 29) 4 13.1). had significantly greater dimensions (ascending Z-scores shown Figure , p<0.0001). did not differ from normal population. rate growth higher first 10 years life. Conclusion: does dilate same degree as isolated valve. This may reflect an inherent wall properties two groups. Comparison Ascending Aorta Z Scores
