ABSTRACT
Introduction: Although coronary artery calcium (CAC) has been shown in multiple populations to be predictive of risk, very few studies have assessed its value Asian-Americans. We therefore the CAC for cardiovascular and all-cause mortality risk prediction Asian-Americans using data from Consortium, largest observational cohort clinical scoring yet assembled. Methods: included 1,621 Asian Americans consortium. was modeled categorical (CAC 0; 1 - 99; 100 399; ≥ 400) continuous forms. Participants were followed over a median 12 ± 4 years mortality, disease (CVD) heart (CHD) mortality. The individual outcomes multivariable-adjusted Cox proportional hazards regression models adjusted traditional factors. Results reported as hazard ratios (95% confidence intervals). Additionally, cubic spline graphs centered at = generated graphical presentations CHD CVD with increasing score. Results: Mean (SD) age population 54 (11.2) 64% men. Approximately 49% had score=0. A total 59 deaths, 16 CVD-specific deaths 8 CHD-specific recorded duration follow-up. Of 794 participants CAC=0 group, only 9 (0.93 per thousand person-years). There no or group Individuals 400 approximately 3 times compared against reference CAC=0. (Hazard ratio 3.3 (1.3 8.6)). Similarly, we noted statistically significant increases (HR 2.6 (1.5 4.3)) 2.3 (1.8 2.9)) unit increase log + 1). Conclusion: Similar more extensively studied race/ethnic groups, is strongly Americans. These findings may help address existing knowledge gaps recent guidelines little data-driven advice this population.
