ABSTRACT
The value of vascular closure devices (VCD) in women undergoing transfemoral catheterization has not been sufficiently investigated. This is a sex-specific analysis 1395 enrolled large-scale, randomized, multicenter trial, which patients diagnostic coronary angiography were randomly assigned 1:1:1 ratio to arteriotomy with an intravascular VCD, extravascular or manual compression (MC). Primary objective was assess the safety and efficacy 2 different VCD compared MC regarding access-site complications at 30 days. A secondary comparison between types contemporary VCD. Overall, higher risk for men (9.0% versus 6.4%; P=0.002). Vascular comparable (8.6% 9.8%; P=0.451). There no interaction treatment effect sex ( Pinteraction=0.970). Time hemostasis significantly shortened (1 [interquartile range, 0.5-2.0] minutes) 11 10-15] minutes; P<0.001); however, more required repeat (2.4% 0.6%; P=0.018). use associated numerical reduction (6.6% 10.7%; P=0.027) significant reductions time failure. In via common femoral artery, provided safety, while reduced VCD.URL: https://www.clinicaltrials.gov .
