ABSTRACT
Background: The diagnosis of hypertension requires systolic blood pressure (SBP) ≥ 140 mmHg or diastolic (DBP) 90 on at least 2 different occasions. Therefore, there is the possibility patients with elevated BP remaining undiagnosed if not seen by same provider. Purpose: To utilize electronic medical records (EMR) to identify previously diagnosed that have meeting criteria for a using threshold SBP 140mmHg DBP (high BP) more Methods: This was cross sectional design utilizing retrospective multi-year billing and clinical data from large multi-specialty center in Midwest. Using all outpatient visits each year 2009 - 2011, (2HBP) measurement were identified. These compared identified cohorts known (Known HTN) compiled EMR problem list. A sensitivity analysis done high consecutive (2CHBP) also those 3 (3CHBP). We proportions without prior (UDHTN). Results: proportion (UDHTN) when cohort 25% 2009, 26% 2010, 28% 2011 2CHBP 27% 30% 2HBP 18% 19% 2010 23% 3CHBP cohort. Conclusion: About quarter current thresholds multiple did hypertension. use can these commencement appropriate management. Table 1
