ABSTRACT
Primary stenting with self-expanding nitinol stents of the superficial femoral artery yielded improved morphological and clinical results compared balloon angioplasty optional until 12 months in a randomized controlled trial. We now report 2-year data on restenosis outcomes these patients.Of 104 patients chronic limb ischemia obstructions, 98 (94%) could be followed up 2 years after intervention for occurrence (>50%) by duplex ultrasound hemodynamic outcome treadmill walking distance ankle brachial index. Restenosis rates at were 45.7% (21 46) versus 69.2% (36 52) favor primary secondary an intention-to-treat analysis (P=0.031). Consistently, (whether or secondary; n=63) was superior to plain (n=35) respect (49.2% 74.3%; P=0.028) treatment-received analysis. Clinically, stent group showed trend toward better capacity (average, 302 196 m; P=0.12) index values 0.88 0.78; P=0.09) years, respectively. Reintervention tended lower (17 46 [37.0%] 28 52 [53.8%]; P=0.14).At treatment obstructions yields sustained benefit stenting.
