ABSTRACT
Light-to-moderate alcohol consumption has been consistently associated with lower risk of heart disease, but data for stroke are less certain. A light-to-moderate intake suggested, the dose response among women remains uncertain and in this subgroup have sparse.A total 83 578 female participants Nurses' Health Study who were free diagnosed cardiovascular disease cancer at baseline followed-up from 1980 to 2006. Data on self-reported assessed updated approximately every 4 years, whereas potential confounder biennially. Strokes classified according National Survey Stroke criteria.We observed 2171 incident strokes over 1 695 324 person-years. In multivariable adjusted analyses, compared abstainers, relative risks 0.83 (95% CI, 0.75-0.92) <5 g/d, 0.79 0.70-0.90) 5 14.9 0.87 (0.72-1.05) 15 29.9 1.06 0.86-1.30) 30 45 g/d. Results similar ischemic hemorrhagic stroke.Light-to-moderate was a stroke. population modest consumption, an elevated related not observed.
