ABSTRACT
Hypertension is a common complication of obstructive sleep apnea in adults. However, hypertension has not been studied systematically children with the syndrome (OSAS). We therefore measured blood pressure (BP) during polysomnography 41 OSAS, compared to 26 primary snoring (PS). Systolic and diastolic BP were every 15 min via an appropriately sized arm cuff, using automated system. This was tolerated by without inducing arousals from sleep. Children OSAS had significantly higher than those PS (p < 0.001 for p 0.005 wakefulness). There no significant difference systolic between two groups. Multiple linear regression showed that could be predicted index, body mass age. Blood lower wakefulness diastole 0.01 systole), but did differ rapid eye movement (REM) non–REM conclude childhood associated systemic hypertension.
