ABSTRACT
A new species of Miconia sect. subsection Seriatiflorae. was collected in Igapó Forest from the Purus-Madeira interfluve, state Amazonas, Brazil. This species, suberosa, can be distinguished other by a variety morphological features, namely: (i) treelet habit; (ii) deeply fissured bark with thick cork; (iii) long dendritic hairs short arms on young branches, inflorescences and leaves; (iv) petiolated leaves rounded to obtuse bases, ciliate margins, congested at branch apices; and, (v) truncated stigmas.
