ABSTRACT
Crveno jezero (Red Lake) is one of the largest karstic sinkhole lakes in Europe. Diatom flora this lake was unknown due to difficulties collecting samples. Recently, samples were collected by speleodivers frame systematical natural sciences research, during cave diving expedition “Crveno 2017” and observations revealed existence a new species, Gomphosphenia plenkoviciae Gligora Udovič & Žutinić sp. nov. The species described herein as science based on light scanning electron microscopy. characterized having narrowly clavate linear valves, which are slightly heteropolar larger specimens smaller specimens, thus differing from closest taxon valve outline shape central area. Smaller valves G. differ other small-sized outline, striae morphology axial areas.
