ABSTRACT
A new species of Maranta (Marantaceae) from the Brazilian Amazon is described and illustrated. This belongs to subg. has close affinities with M. linearis, which it differs in its caulescent habit, absent petiole, pulvinus deciduous tufts erect trichomes on adaxial side, very long inflorescence many florescences, longitudinally ridged ovary capsule.
