ABSTRACT
A new classification of the subtribe Lychnophorinae is proposed based on results phylogenetic analyses. The subtribes Centratherinae and Sipolisiinae are synonyms three genera (Albertinia, Blanchetia, Gorceixia) transferred to subtribe. As now circumscribed, comprises 19 117 species distributed mostly in Cerrado domain Brazilian Central Plateau. Oiospermum synonymized under Centratherum, Irwinia Blanchetia. Because Lychnophora as currently circumscribed paraphyletic, genus dismantled into monophyletic genera: s.s., Lychnocephalus a described herein, Lychnophorella. Seven (Chronopappus lanatus, grisea, L. haplopappa, Lychnophorella jacobinensis, Piptolepis riparia, Prestelia espeletoidea Proteopsis hermogenesii), 16 combinations (Eremanthus reticulatus, E. syncephalus, humillimus, mellobarretoi, sellowii, hatschbachii, blanchetii, bishopii, leucodendron, morii, regis, santosii, sericea, triflora, pabstii, purpurascens) well eight synonyms. We also propose neotype for Ampherephis pulchella, an epitype Crantzia ovata lectotypes 31 names including six second-step lectotypifications (Albertinia brasiliensis, A. polycephala, intermedia, Centratherum fruticosum, Eremanthus purpurascens, Gorceixia decurrens, albertinioides, brunioides, microphylla, pohlii, reticulata, rosmarinus var. affinis, normalis, gardneri, Symblomeria baldwiniana, Vanillosmopsis V. glomerata, syncephala, Vernonia burchelliana, ericoides, imbricata, involucrata, leptospermoides, martiana, platycephala, pseudomyrtus trichocarpha).
