<p><strong>Cytotaxonomical remarks on <em>Loncomelos visianicum </em>(Hyacinthaceae), a poorly known species endemic to Croatia</strong></p>

ABSTRACT
Loncomelos visianicum, a rare and poorly known geophyte of the Croatian flora, was described from remote uninhabited Adriatic island Palagruža as Ornithogalum it has not been collected again for over century. Basing on living materials, recently rediscovered in locus classicus, possible to carry out careful investigation regarding morphology, karyology, leaf anatomy, ecology this very peculiar species. It is triploid, showing 2n = 42 + 0–5B chromosomes, taxonomically quite isolated, some morphological relationships with L. narbonense creticum. Currently, visianicum represented by low number individuals growing rocky places within xerophilous maquis. In addition detailed description, new iconography, conservation status identification key taxa genus are also provided.
