Taxonomical remarks on Solenopsis laurentia (Campanulaceae) in Italy

ABSTRACT
Based on herbarium and field investigations, the taxonomic status of Solenopsis laurentia (Campanulaceae), hygrophilous species belonging to subfam. Lobelioideae showing a Mediterranean distribution is here examined. According literature, it can be considered as complex, within which several taxa at specific infraspecific rank were described. Morphological nomenclatural studies carried out living populations coming from many Italian localities allowed recognize five subspecies. For each them, detailed description, iconography, micromorphology seed testa pollen grains, taxonomical relationships, chorology, conservation notes are provided. The recognized subspecies following: a) subsp. laurentia, most widespread in Italy also area; b) gasparrinii (Tineo) comb. nov., quite common Sicily with scattered occurrence other localities; c) caespitosa Brullo, seems currently localized Apulia Sardinia; d) parvula occurring some peninsula, Sardinia Tunisia; e) hyblaea, described new for science punctiform distribution.
