ABSTRACT
Dimerostemma pantanalense is a new species, which described, illustrated, and discussed in this paper. The species can only be found the municipalities of Ladário Corumbá, Mato Grosso do Sul state, Pantanal, Brazil. It preliminarily categorized as Critically Endangered (CR) due to advance urbanization risk fires Pantanal. morphologically similar D. annuum but differs by its life-cycle perennial (vs. annual), leaves opposite alternate opposite), sessile subsessile with petiole up 5 mm long), lanceolate linear), venation suprabasal acrodromous imperfect hyphodromous), adaxial abaxial leaf surfaces strongly villous estrigose glandular nearly glabrous), receptacle convex conical convex), phyllaries 3-seriate 2-seriate), conduplicate palea carinate-alate not carinate-alate), cypselae oblanceolate obovate subquadrangular) pappus coroniform two slightly developed awns well-developed awns).
