ABSTRACT
Type fixation for each of the 601 valid genera (17 placed incertae sedis) and 13 doubtful identity (genera inquirenda) in Harpacticoida (Crustacea, Copepoda) has been verified. Twenty-four genus-group names published after 1930 lack mandatory type are therefore unavailable. With exception Kliopsyllus Kunz, 1962 which is replaced by its senior synonym Emertonia Wilson, 1932, such made available here either attributing original name to first author(s) who explicitly fixed a species (Psammastacus Nicholls, 1935; Alteuthellopsis Lang, 1944; Idyellopsis Paralaophonte Robertgurneya Cladorostrata Shen & Tai, 1963; Micropsammis Mielke, 1975; subgenera Rheocamptus Borutzky, 1948 Scottopsyllus 1962;) or adopting taking present authorship date (Paranannopus 1936a; Paraidya Sewell, 1940; Apodopsyllus 1962; Scottolana Por, 1967; Barbaracletodes Becker, 1979; Ameiropsyllus Bodin, Chilaophonte 1985; Psammonitocrella Rouch, 1992; Tectacingulum Harris, 1994; Intermedopsyllus (corrected spelling Intermediopsyllus) Fiersiella Suárez Morales Iliffe, 2005). In two cases ruling International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature will be required avoid upsetting long-accepted accustomed meaning (Halectinosoma Heterolaophonte 1944). The recently proposed generic Pilocamptus Wells, 2007 does not satisfy provisions ICZN Art. 13.1 explicit citation bibliographic reference that provides diagnosis purported differentiate taxon. Rhizothrix Brady Robertson, 1876 an unavailable was Sars (1909a). no potentially next oldest from among subgenera, i.e. Wellsopsyllus 1981 (ICZN 23.3.5). subgeneric Psyllocamptus (Langpsyllocamptus) 1975b reinstated because it denotes taxon based exclusively plesiomorphies. New replacement have preoccupied harpacticoid families Canthocamptidae (Poria 1965; Dahlakia 1986a), Dactylopusiidae (Sewellia 1965), Leptopontiidae (Ichnusella Cottarelli, 1971). Anoplosoma Sars, 1911c (family Ameiridae) previously proposed, but subsequently forgotten, name, Anoplosomella Strand, 1929. Nomina nova also suggested Parathalassius Dussart, 1986 (Calanoida: Centropagidae) Berea Yamaguti, 1963 (Cyclopoida: Chondracanthidae) entered into homonymy with established names. junior Alteutha Baird, 1846b considered valid, precedence as nomen protectum over older Sterope Goodsir, 1845 Carillus (nomina oblita). Similar reversal applies family-group Peltidiidae Claus, 1860 Tisbidae Stebbing, 1910 subjective synonyms Steropinae Dana, 1854 Scutellidiinae 1889, respectively. Since Idomene Philippi, 1843 identified member Clausidiidae (Cyclopoida), Xouthous Thomson, 1883 accommodate all remaining currently Idomene. forgotten copepod genus Microchelonia Brady, 1918 family Laophontidae Namakosiramia Ho Perkins, 1977.
