ABSTRACT
Thrips parvispinus Karny (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) are dangerous pests for chili (Capsicum annuum L.). can be found in lowland to highland. The damage caused by thrips reach 60% and this will greater if the also vectors of plant virus diseases. research aims analyze morphological genetic variation T. located lowlands highlands Jambi province, Indonesia. were collected 2012 from plantation 19 villages spread over 5 districts 26 2 highlands. results showed that at each site. size color body have variations with long, medium short criteria. Variation lowland: length 1.42 ± 0.065 mm, 1.32 1.15 mm 0.122± 0.051 mm. highlands: 1.46 0.035, 1.35 1.22 0.089. long dark brown predominantly all survey sites, is 80.53% 75.91% insects having different sizes belong same species.
