ABSTRACT
The non-biodegradability of plastics released into the environment makes soils infertile, impedes drainage waste water and rain in existing gutters spread waterborne diseases which are traits to human life. This study aimed at producing roofing sheet from polyethylene terephthalate (PET) river sand. Sand was collected while plastic bottles were environment. physical properties sand such as natural content, specific gravity, apparent density, grain size analysis, equivalent test Organic matter content determined. Nine different sample formulation ten each moulded with sand/PET 90/10, 80/20, 70/30, 60/40, 50/50, 40/60, 30/70, 20/80, 10/90 (A I). Water absorption rate, flexural strength, impact drilling It observed that averages gravity density 0.871%, 2.66 1.654g/cm3 respectively. coefficients uniformity, coefficient curvature fineness modulus analysis 3.17, 0.79 2.97 visual piston organic 94.89%, 89.82% 2.42% rates composites 3.62% 0.11% saturation. Flexural strength 200.5daN/cm2 123J/mm2 respectively time maximum 80% These results obtained reveal plastic/sand composite can be used a material.
