Clinical, Biological and Sociodemographic Profiles of Highly Active Anti-Retroviral Therapy (HAART) Naïve Patients in the Garoua Military Hospital, Cameroon

ABSTRACT
Knowing at what point patients are put on treatment during the clinical and biological (CD4 count) stages of HIV is important. This study investigated clinical, sociodemographic profiles highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) naive in Garoua military hospital, Cameroon. was a cross-sectional that collected data demographic, laboratory variables from 66HIV-infected aged 19 years older January 2013 to 2014. Data were analysed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20 software program level 0.05. Sixty-six (66) positive received health facility period, majority whom female, 65.6%. Only 37.5% their sexual partners aware patients’ serostatus. Similarly, only 26.8% stable had done an test, which 73.3% tested positive. Skin diseases, weight loss chronic fever commonest manifestations found (33.3%, 25.4% 17.5% respectively). About 90% clients CD4 counts less than 350 cells/mm3 presentation. Hemoglobin 12g/dl 72.7 % clients. Females more likely males present with skin fever. However, differences not statistically significant (p=0.159). females (65.0%) have compared (35.0%) (p=0.167). More age 35 years, presented cough those years. these (p=0.632). In same vein, patients, 35, 350, (p=0.430). Most our cells/ml presentation HAART initiation. suggests late diagnosis thus delayed opportunity timely access care initiation HAART. There need intensify efforts early routine counseling testing facilities cities, smaller towns rural communities, so as reduce frequency its potential implications. Encouraging get consequently be managed appropriately utmost this area. Qualitative research better ascertain reasons knowing partner status should carried out.
