ABSTRACT
Purpose: Artificial intelligence (AI) methods are changing all areas of research and have a variety capabilities analysis in ophthalmology, specifically visual fields (VFs) to detect or predict vision loss progression. Whereas most the AI algorithms implemented Python language, which offers numerous open-source functions algorithms, majority VF offered R language. This paper introduces PyVisualFields, developed package address this gap make available Methods: For first version, libraries for provided by vfprogression visualFields packages analyzed define overlaps distinct functions. Then, we defined translated functionality into with help wrapper library rpy2. Besides maintaining, subsequent versions’ milestones established, third version will be R-independent. Results: The is as software via GitHub repository ready installed from PyPI. Several Jupyter notebooks prepared demonstrate describe PyVisualFields categories data presentation, normalization deviation analysis, plotting, scoring, progression analysis. Conclusions: We demonstrated its facilitating ophthalmic statistical illustration, prediction. Translational Relevance: Using package, researchers working on can more quickly create clinical applications using cutting-edge techniques.
