ABSTRACT
Abstract This paper provides a summary of the assessment report World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Expert Team on Weather Modification that discusses recent progress precipitation enhancement research. The has been underpinned by advances in our understanding cloud processes and interactions between clouds their environment, which, turn, have enabled substantial developments technical capabilities to both observe simulate from microphysical mesoscale. We focus two types most commonly seeded past: winter orographic systems convective systems. A key issue for seeding is extension cloud-scale research water catchment–scale impacts ground. Consequently, requirements design, implementation, evaluation catchment-scale campaign are discussed. concludes indicating important gaps knowledge.
