ABSTRACT
Research on social stratification and the transmission of inequality has largely disregarded role inter-vivos transfers to adult children. At same time, class been neglected in literature intergenerational transfers. In an attempt link two research strands, article assesses association between occupational parental transfer behaviour. Estimation results from a tobit censored regression model basis data SHARE show substantial differences financial Existing theories are unable account for this finding. Even after income wealth controlled for, service-class parents more resources their children than do working-class parents. We explain observed effects behaviour by rethinking as means status reproduction.
