ABSTRACT
Some studies have challenged the role played by philanthropic agencies in organization of scientific work underdeveloped societies. This paper is intended to add this literature studying relationships developed between Rockefeller Foundation and physiological research four Latin American countries. The latter received sizeable grants during 1940s 1950s, not only as a result degree excellence achieved some laboratories region, but also means spreading an academic model inspired élite medical schools United States. Rockefeller's philanthropy failed modernize structures, mainly because difficulty transferring from one culture another. shows how local resistance conflict, rather than imitation passivity, characterized process attempted transfer.
