ABSTRACT
Cavities are widely used as flameholders in supersonic combustors due to their outstanding potential stabilize combustion without excessive total pressure loss. A review of cavity-stabilized for scramjet applications is provided this article. The topics cover the fundamental problems and recent advances regarding cavity-organized high-speed flows, including stabilization modes mechanisms, flame stability analyses correlations, oscillations, other related issues. Remarkable questions such cavity-coupled fuel injection, flow coupling, optimal cavity geometry scale, auto-ignition propagation interactions, unsteady effects discussed. Then, an attempt made provide some guidelines future research flameholders.
