ABSTRACT
Conventional plastic made from petrochemical based polymer which is non-degradable not environmentally friendly. Thus, there a need to develop bionanocomposite films replace the plastic. Bionanocomposite were produced by casting method using polylactic acid (PLA) biopolymer with incorporation of nanoclay, particularly halloysite. The effect halloysite nanoclay concentration (0, 2, 4, 6 and 8 wt.%) as well addition plasticiser, glycerol, on mechanical properties (tensile stress, elongation at break tensile strength) was investigated. It found that without 2 wt.% film resulted in maximum strength due interaction PLA known for interfacial adhesion. confirmed FTIR spectrum. When more than clay added, both reduced agglomeration nanoclay. However, when glycerol exhibited break. lowered because intercalation into clays prevented entry interlamellar
