Quality of Life in Adolescents and Young Adults with Cleft Lip and Palate with and Without Speech Therapy During COVID-19

ABSTRACT
Cleft-related speech concerns can affect the quality of life (QOL) in patients with cleft lip and palate (CLP). During coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), in-person therapy (ST) was restricted due to fear getting infected. This study aimed compare QOL CLP without ST during pandemic.Cross-sectional Study.CLP team at Tehran University Medical Sciences (TUMS).Thirty-six subjects a mean age 17.33 ± 4 years participated two groups, including ST. Fifteen had only (CPO) others CLP.ST group received least 10 sessions, didn't receive COVID-19.A virtual link demographic adolescent (QoLAdoCleft) questionnaires were sent fill out. Results extracted transferred SPSS.Total subscales' scores QoLAdoCleft lower than but differences between them weren't statistically significant (P > .05). Furthermore, according type, there any total, physical, social subscales .05); however, psychological subscale higher score CPO < .05).QOL weak all CLP, receiving/not receiving couldn't make noticeable them. It seems; COVID-19 pandemic have an adverse effect on these results. Also, weaker negative psychosocial feedback related Orofacial deformities from society.
