ABSTRACT
Despite the scholarly consensus on importance of civic organizations for livability neighborhoods, there are relatively few empirical studies examining to what extent these engage in various forms political participation contribute quality neighborhood. The authors argue that get a better overview neighborhood-oriented participation, it is necessary look beyond those with an explicit focus neighborhood and include newer such as coproduction, government-initiated plans seek address issues through extensive cooperation organizations. three groups factors determine organizational participation: resources, engagement, network position. An analysis survey data collected 2007 from 400 eight neighborhoods two Dutch cities shows impact resources virtually absent, whereas concern about relations pivotal positively related participation.
