ABSTRACT
The way media portray public health problems influences the public’s perception of and related solutions. Social allows users to engage with news collectively construct meaning. This paper examined in comparison user-generated content opioids understand role second-level agenda-setting health. We analyzed 162,760 tweets about opioid crisis, compared main topics their sentiments 2998 stories from New York Times online. Evidence this study suggests that agenda setting on social is different news; communication X/Twitter highlights attributes are ones highlighted news. findings suggest should strategically utilize data, including obtaining consumer insight personal tweets, listening diverse views warning signs issue tuning for policy trends.
