Indicators of Adherence to Antiretroviral Therapy Treatment Among HIV/AIDS Patients in 5 African Countries

ABSTRACT
As the HIV epidemic threatens social fabric of countries struggling with prevalence rates as high 10% to 30%, access antiretroviral therapy (ART) alone is only beginning clinical challenge. There a need identify adherence indicators that will ensure long-term treatment success. A cross-sectional review 921 adult patients on ART for at least 1 year was conducted. Through an administered survey, key were found be highly correlated patient adherence. The rate in this sample 72% after being average 15 months. This data suggest having perceived quality care and owning one’s own home positively affected patients’ Indicators such alcohol use last month level depression negatively Targeting specific interventions guard against nonadherence, leading failure.
