ABSTRACT
Abstract Background Insulin resistance (IR) is a risk factor for ischaemic heart disease and myocardial infarction (MI). IR often manifests in MI regarded as an independent predictor of in-hospital mortality, which can provide early stratification recurrent acute coronary events. Methods The study enrolled 200 patients (130 males 70 females aged 61.4 ± 1.12 years) diagnosed with ST elevation MI. At days 1 12 from the onset, levels lipid profiles, well serum glucose, insulin, adipokine ghrelin levels, were measured. Results Free fatty acid (FFA) had most pronounced changes: 9-fold increase FFA at day 1, without 6-fold increase. Leptin 12, were, on average, 1.5- 2-fold higher compared to controls no (р < 0.05). increased throughout entire hospital stay. Resistin 1.4-fold stay, while non-IR patients, resistin similar controls. Adiponectin decreased controls, IR, they Both 3-fold 3.7-fold lower respectively, correlation analysis showed negative between (r = −0.48 р 0.007), leptin −0.4 0.003), insulin −0.54 0.002), glucose −0.31 0.002) patients. Conclusion Dyslipidaemia, along insulinaemia glycaemia, one significant factors recovery phases Dyslipidaemia characterised by high level; imbalance leptin, resistin, adiponectin; deficiency periods be used promising molecular markers stratify events diabetes mellitus
