ABSTRACT
The fungus Pochonia chlamydosporia parasitizes nematode eggs and has become one of the most promising biological control agents (BCAs) for plant-parasitic nematodes, which are major agricultural pests that cause tremendous economic losses worldwide. complete mitochondrial (mt) genome is expected to open new avenues understanding phylogenetic relationships evolution invertebrate-pathogenic fungi in Hypocreales. mitogenome sequence P. 25,615 bp size, containing 14 typical protein-coding genes, two ribosomal RNA an intronic ORF coding a putative protein (rps3) set 23 transfer genes (trn) recognize codons all amino acids. Sequence similarity studies syntenic gene analyses show 87.02% 58.72% sequences match 90.50% Metarhizium anisopliae 61.33% Lecanicillium muscarium with 92.38% 86.04% identities, respectively. A tree inferred from mt proteins Pezizomycotina supports closely related entomopathogenic M. anisopliae. Hypocreales cluster together clearly separate comprising plant-pathogenic (Fusarium spp.) Hypocrea jecorina. comparison sizes shows length intergenic regions or size contributor mitogenomes Sordariomycetes. Evolutionary analysis rps3 under positive selection, leading display unique evolutionary characteristics Moreover, variability trn distribution clear impact on order mitogenomes. Gene rearrangement operation transposition drives events Pezizomycotina, involve position changes, but no was found Clavicipitaceae. We present annotated chlamydosporia. Based analyses, we have determined between referred this paper form monophyletic group sharing recent common ancestor. Our results also establish foundation further exploration trajectory
