ABSTRACT
Elymus breviaristatus and sinosubmuticus are perennial herbs, not only morphologically similar but also sympatric distribution. The genome composition of E. has been reported, the relationship between is still controversial. We performed artificial hybridization, genomic in situ phylogenetic analyses to clarify whether two taxa were same species. The high frequency bivalent (with an average 20.62 bivalents per cell) at metaphase I pollen mother cells hybrids (StYH) × was observed. It illustrated that closely related breviaristatus. Based on hybridization results, we confirmed allohexaploid, constitution StYH. Phylogenetic analysis results supported this species contained St, Y, H genomes. In their F1 hybrids, activity 53.90%, seed setting rate 22.46%. Those indicated intersubspecific rather than interspecific, it reasonable treated as subspecies breviaristatus. In all, constitutions StYH, they genus Campeiostachys. Because Campeistachys breviaristata, should be renamed Campeiostachys breviaristata (Keng) Y. H. Zhou, Q. Zhang et C. R. Yang subsp. (S. L. Chen) Tan.
