Predictors of high-cost hospitalization in the treatment of acute coronary syndrome in Asia: findings from EPICOR Asia

ABSTRACT
The EPICOR Asia (long-tErm follow-uP of antithrombotic management patterns In acute CORonary syndrome patients in Asia) study (NCT01361386) was an observational hospitalized for coronary syndromes (ACS) enrolled 218 hospitals eight countries/regions Asia. This examined costs, length stay and the predictors high costs during ACS hospitalization. Data (n = 12,922) were collected on demographics, medical history, event characteristics, socioeconomic insurance status at discharge. Patients followed up 6 weeks' post-hospitalization to assess associated treatment from a health sector perspective. Primary outcome incurring highest quintile by country index diagnosis, identification predictors. Cost data available 10,819 patients. Mean 10.1 days. highest-cost countries China, Singapore, South Korea. Significant high-cost care age, male sex, income, country, prior disease hospitalization 3 months before event, no dependency having invasive procedure, hospital type stay.
