ABSTRACT
Approximately 60% of patients presenting to dentists with erosive tooth wear have significant gastroesophageal reflux (GERD), despite minor symptoms. No longitudinal studies reflux-associated and characteristics been reported date. The aim this study was characterize the course GERD associated wear, as well factors predictive its progression, in a large group patients.Seventy-two clinically increased esophageal acid exposure by 24-h multichannel intraluminal pH-impedance measurement (MII-pH) were re-assessed MII-pH after 1 year treatment esomeprazole 20 mg twice-daily. Predictive for assessed logistic regression. At follow-up, no further progression observed 53 (74%) patients. percentage time pH < 4, number episodes proximal off-PPI did not change significantly one year, but weakly acidic decreased subgroup without progression. None baseline demographic, clinical, endoscopic or at follow-up.In oligosymptomatic receiving progress majority Background appeared stable over time, whereas erosion measurements on-PPI healthy controls will be useful elucidation causal role wear.ClinicalTrials.gov , retrospectively registered: NCT02087345 .
