ABSTRACT
This study was performed to evaluate the prevalence and clinical characteristics of dry eye disease (DED) in community-based type 2 diabetic patients identify associated factors related with DED.A total 1360 Beixinjing community were randomly selected. All participants given a questionnaire that assessed basic information subjective symptoms.DED diagnosed using revised Japanese DED diagnostic criteria. subjects underwent routine ophthalmic examination, corneal sensitivity test, tear film break-up time(BUT) Schirmer I fluorescein lissamine green staining(FL) fundus photography. Diabetic retinopathy (DR) graded according International severity scale macular edema.Of subjects, 238 (17.5%) DED. There significant association between presence higher blood glucose (P < 0.001, OR1.240) as well levels glycosylated hemoglobin HbA1c OR1.108).
