ABSTRACT
Abstract Background To tailor physical activity treatment programs for patients with osteoarthritis, clinicians need valid and feasible measurement tools to evaluate habitual activity. The widely used International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form (IPAQ-SF) is not previously validated in osteoarthritis. Purpose assess the concurrent criterion validity of IPAQ-SF using an accelerometer as a criterion-method. Method Patients osteoarthritis ( n = 115) were recruited at Division Rheumatology Research Diakonhjemmet Hospital (Oslo, Norway). was measured by wearing (ActiGraph wGT3X-BT) seven consecutive days, followed reporting their past 7 days IPAQ-SF. Comparison proportions that fulfilled recommendations two methods tested Pearson Chi-Square analysis. Differences levels between analyzed Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test Spearman rank correlation test. Bland-Altman plots visualize total- intensity-specific levels. Results In total, 93 provided complete data, mean (SD) age 65 (8.7) years, 87% women. According IPAQ-SF, 57% minimum compared 31% according p 0.043). When comparing we found significant under-reporting total MET-minutes (p < 0.001), sitting 0.001) walking over-reporting moderate-to-vigorous 0.001). For different levels, correlations ranged from rho 0.106 0.462. indicated increased divergence increasing time spent on intensity Conclusion core Our finding tend over-report higher under-report low-intensity sitting-time clinical importance. We conclude weak
